EVEN THE DOGS HAVE A HISTORY
The Famous hot dogs are made right here in Troy, first by the Troy Pork Store on the corner of 4th and Ferry Streets. Founded in 1918 by German immigrant Charlie Comertz, he was approached by the original owners of Famous to make a small 3 - inch hot dog. They supplied the Famous with tasty little dogs for more than 70 years! Today, The Famous Lunch is still supplied of hot dogs by Fritz Helmbold’s which has been making hot dogs the old fashioned way since 1913. Check out their website by clicking the link below!
